The Opportunity:

A fabulous opportunity for an experienced, Mathematical Modelling and Simulation engineer to join the small yet growing, dedicated and talented team at Lola as we embark on the next phase of the adventure. The role of the Mathematical Modelling and Simulation engineer will assist with the design and development of our race cars.

Role Responsibilities:

• Development and calibration of mathematical models of physical systems from first principles
• Provision of simulation support to the vehicle design and development process
• Sensor fusion and the development of virtual sensors
• Assist with Development of chassis and powertrain control systems
• Contribute expertise to all projects as required.
• Contribute to the development of the Lola Structure and Processes.
• Pay attention to detail in all areas.

Technical Skills required:

• Significant experience in model development and deploying the associated solvers and optimizers essential
• Good knowledge of Matlab / Simulink essential
• Clear report writing and communication essential
• Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and vehicle dynamic control systems, chassis and tyre models
• Modelling of Electrohydraulic systems
• Experience with modelling tools, for example, Dymola
• Experience with Python or other programming languages
• Knowledge of Machine learning packages such as Keras, TensorFlow or Scikit-learn

• Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
• Communicates and demonstrates progress towards the end-goal.
• Confidence and knowledge to raise issues and develop solutions.
• Relatively comfortable operating in a fluid, changing environment.

• Initiative, to find ways to achieve/deliver what is required.

Qualifications & Experience required:

• Degree Level or commensurate work experience
• A degree in a numerate discipline is essential
• Relevant Post graduate qualification of interest
• An interest in and understanding of engineering/motorsport.
• Minimum 3 plus years experience in relevant field

Role Location & Hours:

The role will be hybrid - based at the Silverstone, Lola Facility with the option for some flexibility for remote working. 40 hrs a week, normal working days Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day.
