Johnny Herbert to drive Lola T001 Formula E car at 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed

• Lola Formula E racecar to appear on world-famous hillclimb during all four days of this year’s FoS
• Event marks first public dynamic display of Lola T001 away from an E-Prix circuit
• Goodwood Festival of Speed to run from Thursday July 10th to Sunday July 13th at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, England

Formula 1 legend and Lola Global Ambassador Johnny Herbert will make multiple appearances during this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, at the wheel of Lola’s 2025 Formula E racecar.

In line with the theme of this year’s festival, ‘The Winning Formula – Champions and Challengers’, the T001 will run alongside a host of iconic single seaters from the annals of top tier motorsport. Taking to the hillclimb in Batch 1, the car will wow crowds once on Thursday before running twice a day for the remainder of the event. When not in action, spectators will have the opportunity to see the car and its driver up close in the Ballroom Paddock.

“There are few events that I look forward to taking part in as much as the Festival of Speed,” said Herbert. “Driving the T001 on the hillclimb is a particularly thrilling prospect, as it not only provides an opportunity to demonstrate the incredible performance of electric single seaters, but also signals the continued return of the iconic Lola brand to the centre of the motorsport community.”

The Lola T001 is a purpose-built Formula E racer, with powertrain and software developed in collaboration with Yamaha and run by the Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E team in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. With 350kW (470bhp) from its all-electric powertrain, the T001 is capable of 0-60mph in just 1.82 seconds - quicker than a Formula 1 car – with a top speed of 200mph.

Peter McCool, Lola Technical Director, said: “Goodwood is the ultimate draw for petrolheads from around the world and has long been at the forefront of promoting the latest alternative energy performance technology. This alignment with our core values makes it the ideal venue to showcase the T001, and we’re certain that the crowds will be as delighted by the remarkable capability of a Gen3 EVO Formula E car as they are to see the Lola name back on a top tier racer.”

This weekend will also see the Lola Yamaha ABT team competing in rounds 13 and 14 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Berlin, where drivers Lucas Di Grassi and Zane Maloney will be looking to continue the progress the team has made during its debut season.
