The Opportunity:

At Lola Cars, we are building something special.
As one of the most iconic names in motorsport, design, build, engineer and race world-class race and road cars from our new headquarters at Silverstone, and we need exceptional people behind every part of that journey.

This is a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Race Engineer to join our growing, dedicated and talented team as we embark on the exciting Gen 4.0 era of Formula E, taking on a key trackside role at race and test events where your technical insight, operational judgement and strategic decision-making will directly influence car performance.

What you will be doing:

Take responsibility for all technical, operational, and strategic aspects of one car at events.

  • Define and continuously refine car setup using data analysis, simulation outputs, driver feedback, and performance group input.
  • Create, execute, and adapt run plans, including setup changes and modifications during sessions, to maximise performance and learning.
  • Lead real time, mid event decision making, analysing setup, tyre behaviour, energy use, competitor performance, and driver feedback.
  • Manage and coordinate trackside and factory-based engineers, working closely with Performance, Controls, Systems, Tyre, and Strategy groups to optimise car performance and development.
  • Direct and lead the car crew and mechanics during events, fostering clear communication, efficiency, and teamwork.
  • Oversee track, simulator, and rig testing activities, ensuring strong correlation between simulation and on track performance.
  • Lead simulation and simulator correlation efforts pre event, during event, and post event, providing clear recommendations and actions.
  • Plan, organise, and execute simulator and on track test events, supporting both race preparation and long term performance development.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date event data, reports, and technical documentation, including detailed post event analyses.
  • Take shared responsibility for car legality and regulatory compliance, working closely with the Technical Coordinator.
  • Establish, document, and implement best practices to ensure safe, legal, reliable, and high performance car operation.
  • Contribute to fault reporting, rectification processes, and technical operating documentation, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Support long term car development and specification, contributing to performance reviews and project review meetings to ensure alignment across technical areas.

What we are looking for:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a trackside role within top-tier motorsport, highlighting a proven track record in Race engineering.

  • Self-motivated to develop, drive and deliver the Race Engineer remit.
  • A proactive evidence-based approach to problem-solving, coupled with a "can do" attitude and a high degree of initiative.
  • Applies rigorous problem-solving with creative thinking and a commitment to accuracy and pride in work.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of efficiently presenting and explaining complex engineering topics, with a keen interest in motorsports.
  • Has the confidence and knowledge to raise issues and develop solutions.
  • Comfortable operating in a fluid, changing environment.
  • Work systematically with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Methodical and measured in approach.
  • Build rapport with team members.
  • Possess a composed demeanour and the ability to make structured decisions with sound reasoning.
  • Lead by example and possesses the ability to inspire and motivate both their team and peers.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and time management abilities.

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • Degree-level qualification or commensurate work experience.
  • Mechanical, Motorsport or Aeronautical engineering degree desirable.
  • Project management experience desirable.
  • An interest in and understanding of engineering/motorsport.
  • This is a key role for an experienced motorsport engineer who thrives under pressure and values precision and performance, ideally with a background in Formula 1, Formula E, WEC, LMDh, IndyCar or Formula 2.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for testing and race events.

Role, Location & Hours:
